Veena Sood

Veena Sood is an award-winning actress, known for her versatility in theatre, film, television and Improv. Working with Improv master teacher Keith Johnstone for the past 35 years, and as a co-founder of Theatresports, Veena has developed effective tools to unlock creativity and spontaneity.

Veena has been an Improv for Actors instructor at the Motion Picture Arts program at Capilano University, has been an on- set acting coach, & taught Improv workshops to the animators of Lucas Film & Disney. She continues to work with directors for Women in the Directors’ Chair (WIDC), where she co-designed the Working with Actors module.

Veena has been honoured by UBCP/ACTRA with the Lorena Gale Woman of Distinction Award, she is a recipient of The North Shore Fund for the Arts for a Distinguished Artist Award, & UBCP/ACTRA also awarded Veena the Sam Payne Award for her contributions in humanity, artistic integrity and encouragement of new talent. She is also a UBCP/ACTRA Awards nominee/winner, a Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards nominee/winner, as well as a Leo Award nominee/winner for her acting work over the years in film, television and theatre.

Veena can bee seen in numerous television & film productions such as Allegiance (CBC), Wedding Season (Netflix), Children Ruin Everything (CTV), Twilight Zone, Loudermilk, & the recently completed indie films Corner Office and With Love & A Major Organ. Veena was also the Artistic Director of Keith Johnstone’s The Life Game (Vancouver), which she also co-produced 10 podcast episodes of for CBC Radio.
